Celebrating 50 Years of Arts & Culture

For fifty years, the Dahl Arts Center has been the heart of our community’s arts and culture—and this journey is just beginning. This Fall, join us as we commemorate this milestone and envision the "Next 50." Your support will ensure that the arts continue to thrive in our community, enriching lives today and for generations to come.

Your support will ignite new developments, sustain outstanding exhibitions and performances, and enhance community arts and cultural programs. It will also help maintain the Dahl’s vital role as the region’s leading hub for arts education. Your generosity upholds our commitment to "Always Free Admission," guaranteeing the arts remain accessible to everyone, always.

50 Years of Local Art History in One Catalog

In honor of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Dahl Arts Center, the Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) is releasing a comprehensive catalog of the artworks residing in the Dahl Arts Center’s permanent collection. Showcasing over 300 works, this catalog will serve as a  visual anthology of the artworks that have been thoughtfully purchased or generously gifted.

This catalog is more than an inventory of selected artworks. We invite you on a journey to explore 5 decades of the region’s artistic history. Each page will tell a story of a creator, from the bold brush strokes of pioneering local artists to the nuanced works of contemporary creators who continue to push artistic boundaries. Featuring a wide array of mediums, styles and subjects, this collection reflects the dynamic and inclusive nature of our artistic community.

THE NEXT 50...

Help us continue providing art opportunities for next 50 years and make a lasting impact in our community—every contribution counts!
DONATE NOW

In place of The GOODS, the Benefit Art Auction is a new local tradition. Proceeds benefit exhibitions and programs at the Dahl, ensuring Admission is Always Free. Every purchase makes a difference, and a portion is tax deductible. Presented by the Rapid City Arts Council.
The purpose of the Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) is to champion the power of art to bring all kinds of people together, making art more accessible, more integral and more inspiring for the communities we serve. RCAC was established by community leaders in 1968 and officially partnered with the city in 1974 to manage the Dahl Arts Center and expand arts and cultural resources. RCAC creates and supports diverse programming in exhibitions, performances, and educational classes. Supported by individual donors and organizations such as the Black Hills Area Community Foundation, John T. Vucurevich Foundation, the South Dakota Arts Council through the South Dakota Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts, and others, RCAC is committed to enriching the community's artistic and cultural experiences.
