Black Hills State University Fine Art Senior Exhibition
BHSU Graduating Students 04.25.24 - 06.22.24 Sen. Stan Adelstein & Lynda K. Clark Gallery Works in this exhibition feature BHSU seniors who are graduating either in May or December of 2024 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education for K-12 Art Teaching. The exhibition features a wide variety of mediums, techniques, and concentrations as each student is responsible for creating their own personal visual narratives through their work. These students are emerging artists and leaders who are exhibiting their capstone pieces at the Dahl Arts Center for the first time. This will be the 5th year that BHSU seniors will participate in this show. |
Best of the West High School Art Show
Local High Scholers 04.26.24 - 05.25.24 This annual juried high school art exhibition displays artworks submitted by students from Rapid City high schools in a wide range of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, collage, printmaking, pastels, drawing and traditional arts. |
Denise Du Broy Collection
Various Artists 05.31.24 - 08.24.24 This exhibition features recent acquisitions from regional artists as part of the newly established Denise J. Du Broy Collection. These pieces convey the vision of the Dahl’s former curator for celebrating diverse contemporary artists who helped shape our present-day artistic landscape. |
Artists of the Black Hills Annual Exhibition
Various Artists 06.21.24 - 09.14.24 Artists of the Black Hills (ABH), an organization of professional artists, artisans, and galleries, has a common goal of presenting and promoting the Black Hills region as an art destination. This exhibition will showcase works from more than 30 prolific ABH members working in various mediums, such as painting, sculpture, pastels, photography, and jewelry. |
50th Anniversary Permanent Collection Exhibition
Rapid City Arts Council Permanent Collection 06.07.24 - 08.31.24 This exhibition coincides with the Dahl’s 50th anniversary and commemorates the permanent collection at the Dahl. Now housing more than 300 pieces, the collection was established by RCAC in 1978 as a legacy for future generations and an asset of the people of the City of Rapid City. |
Northern Plains Watercolor Society
Various Artists 08.30.24 - 10.19.24 Northern Plains Watercolor Society (NPWS) promotes interest, education and appreciation for watercolor painting and the arts throughout the Black Hills and surrounding plains states (SD, ND, WY, MT, NE, MN). This will be the group’s 29th annual art exhibition and competition. Each year, this show features nearly 60 works of art by more than 30 artists. |
BHSU Faculty Exhibition
Black Hills State University Faculty 09.27.24 - 12.21.24 This exhibition featuring Michael Baum, Bridget Beck, Skott Chandler, Gina Gibson, Allen Morris and J. Desy Schoenewies offers an opportunity to view the collective body of work from the fine arts faculty at BHSU in one gallery. Each of these artists have unique artistic styles and work in mediums that vastly differ, but work in a collaboration to offer high quality arts education to students of BHSU. This exhibition will include panel discussions, artist talks, and workshops at the Dahl. |
