Maintenance Worker - Part Time

The Rapid City Arts Council and Dahl Arts Center is looking for a reliable, skilled, maintenance worker to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our facility. You will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional. You should have the manual dexterity and physical stamina necessary for this work. 

Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office, email, online purchasing, spreadsheets and basic budgets. Some physical exertion required including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing on ladders, etc. Position reports to the Executive Director.

Primary Responsibilities: To provide maintenance and janitorial support to the physical plant of the Dahl Arts Center, including responsibility in the following areas: 
  • General facility repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinate facility personnel task assignments, review of timesheets, and employee evaluation input.
  • Administration and use of computerized facility systems including HVAC, telephone, security and access control.
  • Janitorial support duties.
  • Coordination of outside repair vendors, and purchasing of janitorial and repairs/maintenance supplies.
  • Regular communication and reporting regarding facility initiatives and progress to management, as well as provide input on annual work plan for facility management and operations in conjunction with Executive Director.
  • Paperwork processing and tracking of purchase orders to the city for facility repair expenses. Awareness of department budget and working within it.
  • Use of own vehicle required for local errands, mileage reimbursed at state rates.
  • Part-Time, 20 hours per week, Mon-Fri, days. Reliability and regular attendance essential. Includes paid vacation and holidays.
  • $12-15/hr., depending on experience.
