Dahl Arts Center Day

We celebrated the second annual Dahl Arts Center Day. To mark this momentous occasion, the RCAC and the Friends of the Dahl hosted a family-friendly community appreciation night to commemorate Dahl Arts Center Day. The free event featured an art activity with Ms. Jewels, as well as performances by Abbey Leach, Welby June, Jack Hughes, and the Prima School of Dancing. The cyclorama was filled with games from Who’s Toy House & Main Street Square. To top it all off, a delicious dessert was provided by Colonial House.​

Benefit Art Auction

This celebration will raise vital funds to ensure the Dahl remains a vibrant institution for future generations. The evening’s events will be emceed by Ryan Puffer of Black Hills Community Theatre and include specialty cocktails by Windsor Block Bar, a gallery viewing, heavy hors d'oeuvres by Nells Gourmet, a silent art auction, and a Haus Party DJ set by Soul Scend.

Quick History of Bauhaus
Dahl Haus is inspired by the Bauhaus Art Movement of Germany in the early 20th Century. The movement was focused around absurdist and avant-garde expressions of color, performance, and collaboration – all of which still influence the way arts are experienced today. Bauhaus’ key tenets inspired us to create a community-forward event to celebrate the arts in a fun way.

Dahl Haus: A Bauhaus Themed Celebration

The purpose of the Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) is to champion the power of art to bring all kinds of people together, making art more accessible, more integral and more inspiring for the communities we serve.​ RCAC was established by community leaders in 1968 and officially partnered with the city in 1974 to manage the Dahl Arts Center and expand arts and cultural resources. RCAC creates and supports diverse programming in exhibitions, performances, and educational classes. Supported by individual donors and organizations such as the Black Hills Area Community Foundation, John T. Vucurevich Foundation, the South Dakota Arts Council through the South Dakota Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts, and others, RCAC is committed to enriching the community's artistic and cultural experiences.
