Guided Tours
Our tour guides are trained to facilitate conversations and make looking at art fun! Your group will be led through a current art exhibit. Scavenger hunts, exploration games, interactive discussions and hands on samples keep children engaged with the artwork in the gallery.
Tour themes vary with rotating exhibits and can be catered to match specific classroom subjects.

Art Activity
Kids love making art! Let us help you meet state standards with hands-on projects that include the elements and principles of art and include lessons in art history.

Cyclorama Mural
Connect art, history and the American experience with a class visit to the Cyclorama Mural. A light audio narrative program engages kids with the story behind the art. Please allow at least 10 minutes to include this in your visit. Click here for more information about the cyclorama mural.
Self-Guided Tours
Self-guided visits are led by school teachers and chaperones. Please notify Visitor Services Desk at least 1 week in advance @ 605.394.4101 x200 so that we can expect you and be sure other event groups do not interfere with your visit. One chaperone for every 10 students is required.

2013: 3rd Grade Tours are a Success!
This marks the 25th consecutive year the Rapid City Arts Council has hosted the 3rd Grade Tours. March 11 through March 22 all third graders will be treated to a bus ride, gallery tour and a hands-on art activity that will inspire and provide a creative outlet. Check out the sampling of thank you letters that our education department received There are some amazing artists out there. |
