The Rapid City Arts Council and the Rapid City Journal are once again partnering to inspire photographers to show their best work!
The RCAC is seeking submissions for the 13th Annual Dahl Mountain Photo Competition and Exhibit, a juried photography exhibition based on mountain culture. The exhibition will be on display in the Inez & Milton Shaver Gallery and Lobby Gallery at the Dahl Arts Center from March 10—April 29, 2017 during the Dahl Mountain Culture Festival.

Film Screening - Perseverance

Perseverance is a film about all the highs and lows of running 866k/538miles across the Pyrenees Mountains. In 2016 Paulette Kirby was one of 266 starters, and one of 81 Finishers. In her words. this is her story.
When Paulette Kirby was growing up in Chicago she always new she should be in the outdoors. But she didn't know it would involve one of the Icons of Adventure Racing, Primal Quest Badlands 2009, pulling 100 pounds of canoe and gear through the woods of Maine with 2 women teammates, Untamed New England 2010, Racing twice in Patagonia, Patagonia Expedition Race, 2010,2011, crashing and almost dying, Expedition Idaho, 2011, recovering and running 200 miles in 92 hours, Tahoe 200 2014, and running from the Mediterranean to Atlantic Ocean. Paulette is also a Clinical Nurse Practitioner with her own clinic. She also has two birds, Jimmie Lee and Stevie Ray, Chile a street dog she brought home from Chile, and a Husband.
Randy Ericksen (a husband) is a filmmaker/photographer/podcaster who likes to hangout with adventure racers. At one time he was a really good bike racer.

Two days of exciting films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, presented by National Geographic and The North Face, which annually brings together the world's best films on mountain culture.
In 2016 the festival sold out both days!
