Preschool Classes

For ages 3-5, little ones can work as a team with Mom, Dad, Grandma or Uncle! Little hands will create wonders in art the 3rd Monday of the month. All supplies included.

 

Dragon tale dreams  (Ages 3-5)

Tracing, cutting, gluing and painting… at the end, a moving toy. Make the dragon of your dreams while developing fine motor skills.

Dino Days  (Grades K-2)

Learn how to draw ‘em, paint ‘em and bring ‘em to life while working with a variety of techniques in this dinosaur themed class. We’ll break it down for a drawing lesson, mix colors in paint and form sculpture minis in clay. Join us for the fun, you’ll dig it!

Life Drawing Open Studio  (Adults 18 & up)
Draw or paint the human form from live models. This is an opportunity for independent work. No instructors, just an open friendly atmosphere of similarly interested artists. Easels, locker storage and wet canvas racks available for use. Bring your own medium of choice.  Second and forth Tuesdays all summer.

Matting Madness  (Adults & Youth ages 15 & up)

Learn the basics of displaying artwork in this two-hour matting class. Enhance with color and give your art a polished look. Bring artwork on paper that's approximately 8 X 10" to work with. All supplies included. Includes one free open studio punch card to continue your work. Call Victoria to schedule your private/semi-private lesson almost anytime at 394-4101 x205. Advanced lessons also available upon request.

Ceramics / Painting Open Studio  (Adults & Youth ages 12 & up)

New open studio features! Open studio punch cards are available to Dahl students and community artists for use of pottery wheels, kiln firings, easel use, supply and wet canvas storage. New slab roller for clay building and new mat cutter usage (qualified users only—see “Matting Madness”). Five day cards are available for $25 and good for six months. (Included free with select classes. Members of the Dahl receive one free extra 5 day punch card for every class signup that offers one.) Select availability during business hours only, call front desk for complete schedule.

Classes are shown Member / Non-member pricing.  For membership information, click HERE.

FINANCIAL AID may be available for 50% or more of the class fee for children in grades 1 - 8, through the Ardath Rypkema Memorial Fund. Application is required.  For more information, inquire with office staff at the Dahl Arts Center, 394-4101.

Dahl Arts Center Education Class Policies and Information

  • Classes have limited space and pre-registration is necessary. Only children enrolled in the class may attend.
  • Registration is not in effect until payment of class fee has been received. Register in person or by phone with credit card during regular Dahl hours. 25% of the class fee will be non-refundable registration charge in the event of cancellation by the student.  A class credit or 75% refund can be given up to 72 hours before the first class date.  Cancellations within 72 hours of the first class date will be non-refundable.
  • A family membership to the Dahl Arts Center allows any member of the immediate family to register for the member fee. An individual membership allows only that individual to register for the member fee. Family memberships to the Dahl are $50, individual memberships are $35.
  • Please drop off and pick up children in the classroom on time.
  • All supplies are provided unless otherwise noted.
  • Students should wear clothes that can get messy.
