An
evening of American Gypsy Style Bellydance. Gypsy's dancers will
enchant you as they shimmy and spin to a mix of Middle-Eastern-style
and American music. Enjoy an array of American Tribal Style

August 14 – Open Mic Night
Calling all area poets,
acoustic musicians, comedians and other performers: this is your
chance to show the community what you’ve got. Bring your instrument
or other performance material down to the Dahl Arts Center. All
performers wishing to be a part of the Open Mic Night must check in
at the Dahl at 6:00 so Dahl staff can review material performers
intend to perform as well as arrange a lineup. All subject matter in
lyrics, poetry, spoken word, jokes, etc. must be considered
appropriate for general audiences by the Dahl staff, or they will
not be included in the Open Mic Night. Performers wishing to be a
part of Open Mic Night should also be aware that the performance
space for this event is relatively small, and the Dahl Arts Center
also cannot accommodate rock bands or anyone requiring more than a
very simple PA setup. For more information, please contact
amethyst@thedahl.org or call 394.4101 ext. 209.
August 21 – Ken & Cory Tomovic
Ken & Cory Tomovick are regional singer/songwriters who perform an
all original, eclectic mix of rhythm & blues, folk and storytelling
songs as a duo, with Ken on guitar and Cory on vocals. Cory is also
the president of the organization Black Hills Songwriters and she is
the writer behind all of her and Ken’s songs. Ken & Cory have a CD
out called “Beneath the Surface” which also features acclaimed
violinist Kenny Putnam on some recorded tracks. Another act to be
announced will share the bill.
August 28 – String Tied
Popular local bluegrass
music. String Tied is an eclectic band of musicians who bring a
wealth of experience, creativity and tradition to the active Western
South Dakota music scene.
They play a straight ahead, roots based, gospel laced, fast paced,
high lonesome, fab foursome, clean
wholesome, soulful, chockfull, hands full, striving, reviving, hard
driving, straight up, stay up, one up, put up or shut up, 4 part,
from the heart, almost art, light to dark, foot to the feed, feel
the need, take the lead set that will have you feeling the beat,
tapping your feet, out of your seat and feeling upbeat. |
